Hi - I’m Karin.

I’m a writer, UX‑minded content strategist, and visual storyteller who helps purpose‑driven brands, nonprofits, and authors communicate with honesty and clarity. Most of my work is with health and wellness, and mission‑driven organizations, along with artists, service providers, and travel brands that care about depth over hype.

I’m drawn to stories that help people live well, love their neighbors, and see their work with more compassion and courage. Whether we’re shaping website copy, a content strategy, or a visually rich book, my goal is to say what’s true in a way your readers can feel and act on.

Newsroom Roots

Earlier in my career, I worked in major metro newsrooms as a staff photographer, photo editor, and Director of Photography—with steady freelance assignments for the New York Times, Washington Post, and other large‑market dailies. Years of editing and assigning work in those environments taught me how to push photographers to do their best work, make difficult calls, and use images to tell layered stories—ones that reward a second look and reveal more than the obvious.

That background still shapes how I see: I look for the small human details that carry the weight of a story and for the clearest visual and verbal choices to help that story land with real people.

Books and visual storytelling

Today, that same editorial eye guides the visual side of nonfiction and children’s books I help bring into the world—as a picture editor, photo researcher, and collaborator for authors and publishers who want images that matter as much as the words. Books I’ve worked on have earned recognition from organizations such as AAAS/Subaru, NSTA, and Junior Library Guild.

If you’re working on a visually driven book project and need a partner to shape the images, I’d love to hear what you’re building. I also write Young Adult fiction and picture books as K. Elisabet Anderson, which keeps my storytelling muscles active and feeds the imaginative side of my client work.

A small personal note

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me wandering the red‑rock desert where I live, reading, or learning something new.

I’ve walked many miles with my two late rescue dogs, Dagwood and Blondie, whose humor, steadfast companionship, and the ache of saying goodbye softened me and still shape how I look at the world—and the stories I help tell.

Kind things people have said about working with me.
